Koratty Mulavallikav Devi Temple is considered as one of the most important devi temples among the 108 durga temples (77th) believed to have been consecrated by the legendary warrior Parasurama who is also credited withcreating the state of kerala. Lord parasurama see the chaithanya of adhiparasakthi (Rajarajeshwari) in rock coming from earth (soyambhu) and a thirthakulam. Lord parasurama told to raja to create a temple for Adhi Parasakthi. The raja created a temple urazhama given to a bramana ellam and the temple security charge givan tharamel parnikkar (Tharamel Kalari). Long years before bhramana ellam left from here to unknown place due to a big war against the raja, then Urazhama charge given to pappat ellam. Now Temple managed by Kerala Shetra Samrakshana Samithi.
